(GDN) — Wayne County takes great pride in its financial records and reporting.
The Government Finance Officers Association of the United States and Canada recently announced that it has awarded County Wayne the Achievement for Excellence in Financial Reporting for its comprehensive annual financial report for the fiscal year ended June 30, 2020.
County Manager Craig Honeycutt praised the efforts of the finance department at the county’s latest board meeting.
Honeycutt thanked the finance department for all they do to support all other provincial departments.
Wayne County Chief Financial Officer Allison Speight says the county has “a legacy of great financial reporting.”
Speight praised her staff, which she referred to as “a team.”
The Certificate of Achievement is the highest form of recognition in government accounting and financial reporting, and achieving it is a significant achievement for a government and its management.
This is the 25th year that Wayne County’s finance department has been certified.
Wayne County’s finance department will be commended for its efforts at its December 21 board meeting.
