BERLIN, Jan. 1 (Reuters) – Germany wants to use its Group of Seven (G7) presidency to support economic recovery from the COVID-19 pandemic and strengthen efforts to improve climate protection, finance minister said Christian Lindner Saturday.
“Germany has taken over the presidency of the G7 for 2022 – the G7 countries stand for freedom, democracy and progress,” Lindner said in a tweet. “With this in mind, we need to overcome the pandemic and fuel the global economic recovery,” he added.
Lindner, Liberal Free Democrats (FDP) party leader, junior partner in Chancellor Olaf Scholz’s triple government coalition, said he wanted to put questions about digitization and climate neutrality at the top of the agenda for finance ministers and central bank governors during their talks.
